People love to throw out the quote about how sometimes it’s a good thing that we wear helmets, so people can’t see the emotion on our faces. To see us get a little misty when working with child with life threatening or terminal illness or conditions.
To be entirely honest, I never really had one of those moments until yesterday, when we did the Walk For Wishes with the Make-A-Wish foundation.
I mean, just look at that kid, how much she light up when I let her hold my blaster.
Stuff like this is, at the end of the day, why I love costuming (and my friends). All of the crap you go through to make it work feels insignificant when you can give someone going through a hard time a reason to smile.
